Lowndes County Schools proposes modifying school zones to balance student numbers to relieve overcrowding at several schools which will not impact 98% of our students.
Please note this is not an all-inclusive list. The posted GIS map is the prevailing document regarding addresses and land areas impacted by rezoning. Areas with an overlay grid indicate a change in a school boundary.

Process used for rezoning considerations:
Review of current and historical student enrollment numbers
Analysis of transportation maps/routes
Survey of current and projected developments in school zones
Input from system and school-level administrators.

Elementary School Impact
· 203 elementary students currently enrolled in zone change areas
· 45 of these are 5th graders; 35 5th graders are not impacted by middle school changes - Impacts 168 current elementary students for next year
Middle School Impact
· 33 middle school students are currently enrolled in zone change areas impacting move from Hahira Middle School to Pine Grove Middle School
· 13 are 8th graders - zone changes impact 20 current middle school students
Total potential students impacted: 188
School Zone School Choice Application
Students impacted by the school zone changes will have the right to attend the school for which they are currently zoned. After the March 11th board meeting, upon school board approval, School Zone School Choice Application will open to allow parents/guardians to choose to remain in their current school or upcoming middle school. Parents will be responsible for transportation, and the student must have acceptable attendance.

Aligned the elementary school zones that currently attend Lowndes Middle School with feeder schools.
The area below US Highway 84, using the railroad track as a divider, moved from WES to CES. Includes Ousley Road, Old Quitman Road, Spain Ferry Road, Carter Way, Tiger Creek Lane, and all other surrounding roads.
The area to the east of I-75 using Savannah Avenue and I-75 as dividers, moved from WES to MBE. Includes Boone Dairy Road, Lloyd Jackson Road, and St. Augustine Road.
The commercial area around Kings Way had a small portion zoned to WES. Using N. Valdosta Road as a divider, merged this with the adjacent area zoned for DES.
Followed Val Del Road above the DES zone starting at Clyattstone on the west side and Lucas Richardson on the east side to Hall Road on the west side and Coppage Road NW on the east side. All land in this area addressed Val Del Road
Clyattstone to Rocky Hill Church Road for addresses on Clyattstone. New neighborhoods and land from Sirmans Lane to Rocky Hill Church Road. Sirmans Lane to Dowington Drive
Includes areas off Val Del Road addressed with: Lucas Richardson Road, Bethany Drive to the church, Bethany Road, Parker Place Road, and Dodd Road.
Additional areas off Val Del Road that do not connect to 41 North: Bethany Hills neighborhood.
All areas to the east of Val Del Road in the above sections to the current Pine Grove Elementary school boundary.
All of Franklinville Road and McMillan Road not currently PGE (side roads off of each that were currently HES).
Skipper Bridge Road to 122 to include Woodrow Lane and Providence Point.
Coppage Road starting east of Griffin Drive to Skipper Bridge Road.
Using Old Pine Road as the boundary rezone areas from DES to PGE to include Orchard Way, Darien Drive, Liska Circle, Crawford Road, Hall Way, and Kingston Estates.
Boundaries were developed using the Railroad Tracks and Guest Road.
Includes Jaycee Shack Road, Mt. Zion Church Road, and Shelby Lane.
Includes Crestwood Subdivision and Guest Road.
All land between those above.
